 Sewing Machine Maintenance

This week I thought I'd get us prepared for Spring cleaning. Not Spring cleaning your house - I'd never do that! We need to Spring clean our sewing machines. I found a few good resources on the web to guide us through the process. Some of these articles get into some more advanced maintenance. Use your own judgment about your own comfort and abilities at tackling these on your machine.

First are a few articles. For how-to articles, I look for ones with great photos to go along with the instructions. Here are my favorites:

If you have an antique machine, the International Sewing Machines Collector's Society has an extensive list of resources

I even found a few good videos
  • Part 1 of 2 parts on basic cleaning instructions
  • If you feel more adventurous, here is part 1 of 5 parts on in-depth machine maintenance

Finally, here is an About.com an article on troubleshooting
