Let's take a look behind the scenes of Valentine's Day

The History Channel has a great article on the possible origins of Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day wasn't very special in 1929 Chicago. No one wants to celebrate the St Valentine's Day massacre but there have been some positive things that have happened on Valentine's Days past:

• In 1778, the US flag was first recognized by a foreign vessel. The USS Ranger was under the command of John Paul Jones.
  
• Oregon became the 33rd US state in 1859
• In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell applied for his telephone patent
• IBM was founded in 1924
• Arizona became the 48th state in 1912
• In 1989 the first 24 GPS satellites were placed in orbit
• Dolly, the first cloned mammal, was born in 2003
