When I was in 4th grade a boy gave me candy for Valentine's Day. Being the principled girl that I was, I declined to accept the candy in the way that you would expect an obnoxious 9-year-old to do. I told him I didn't want it and he should give it to his teacher. He was nice enough but he had named his pet rats after us! I did not want to encourage any more of that behavior. When I proudly told my Mom she was not as impressed as I expected and she said she hoped I never received another Valentine's Day gift. Ever.
It worked. Once I was dating Chris I developed my allergy to flowers. There ends Valentine's Day at my house.
My interpersonal skills haven't improved much either!
