It's the last day of 2008 and our last Wednesday WIP report for the year. Now that the Christmas holiday has come and gone, what has kept you busy this past week? Are you trying to get some final finishes for 2008 completed before the clock rolls over to midnight? I am determined to finish a log cabin quilt I have been making for my dad. I finished stitching the binding last night, and sometime today, before 2009 gets here, I will stitch on the label. I also found this last week to be a great time to get started on some new projects. Well, they weren't really "new", as all the fabric and patterns had been sitting in sacks, just waiting for me to get to them, for quite some time. Come by the forum and tell us what you have been busy doing this past week! And remember, we love to see pictures, too!
Tick tock! Time is almost up to finish with those holiday projects and preparations! Are you still racing to the finish line, or are you now coasting through the holiday? I've been working away on several things this week. Some quilting, some piecing, some project sewing, and of course...holiday food! Be sure to stop by the forum and let us know what you have been doing this week, and see what your other friends at MQR have been working on. Just click the link below to join the fun!
It's Wednesday report time! Don't forget to stop by the forum and post your WIPS. Remember, they don't have to be all about quilting. Just tell us what projects you have been working on for the past week, and we love to see pictures. Can you hear the ticking of the clock getting louder and louder, as time is running out to finish up those Christmas projects? Maybe you already have all of that done and behind you, and are finding time to focus on projects for yourself. Come on by and join the fun, by clicking the link below!
Hello everyone! Time for the Wednesday check in! I am finally getting back in gear with some quilting this week. I had hopes of getting some Christmas projects made this year, but that probably is not going to happen. I know that several of you are burning the midnight oil to get customer quilting finished. Whatever it is you've been working hard at, take a break for a few minutes, and tell us about it! See you in the forum!
It's Wednesday! That means it is time for you to fill us in on all the projects, quilt related or not, that kept you busy last week. It's also the first week of December. How did that get here so fast this year? We are running out of time to finish up any WIPs this year! We better get busy! Stop by the forum and let us know what you are trying to get wrapped up before 2009.
Our world is full of people wanting shortcuts. We want to have everything and we don't want to wait -- we want what we want and we want it right now. The situation with the US financial system is certainly indicative of that...but I'm not here to talk about such an unpleasant topic!!
As quilters we are no different -- we want to produce beautiful quilting and we want to do it yesterday. Now, I'll grant you that there are some prodigies in the machine quilting world, but those prodigies are pretty few and far between. The rest of us have to work at our craft, and what may look effortless is actually the result of many long years of hard work.
Practice might be spelled with 8 letters, but I'm sure many people consider it a "4-letter" word -- one that you'd rather not hear in your house and try to use as little as possible. I'm here to tell you, though, that this particular "P" word and several of its friends are not as horrible as you might think, and I'd like to give you some tips and ideas about how to effectively practice.
