If you are in the market for a new quilting machine, are curious as to what brands are out there, or need a reference to where to go for support for your brand of quilting machine, this list is for you! This list is by no means definitive, if you have a link I'm missing, please let me know and I'll update the list! (And if a link doesn't work, please tell me that, too!)  An e-mail link is included at the end of the article.

I have not listed any domestic sewing machine manufacturers, but can do so in a separate list.  I'm trying to keep this list limited to machines that have a longer arm.  These links are to the manufacturers website (not dealers) and are in alphabetical order.

For fun, I have started a poll in the forums asking members what kind of machine they use -- if you'd like to see our numbers, you are welcome to visit this post (you do have to be registered for a forum account).  This is a very informal, unofficial kind of a poll -- and will hopefully be updated as time goes on and new members join us!

As a reminder, MQResource is NOT affiliated with any machine manufacturer, and is owned and maintained by Suzanne Earley.  This list is provided for informational purposes only, and is not intended as an endorsement of any of the companies on the list.

The "P" word

Our world is full of people wanting shortcuts.  We want to have everything and we don't want to wait -- we want what we want and we want it right now.  The situation with the US financial system is certainly indicative of that...but I'm not here to talk about such an unpleasant topic!!

As quilters we are no different -- we want to produce beautiful quilting and we want to do it yesterday.   Now, I'll grant you that there are some prodigies in the machine quilting world, but those prodigies are pretty few and far between.  The rest of us have to work at our craft, and what may look effortless is actually the result of many long years of hard work.

Practice might be spelled with 8 letters, but I'm sure many people consider it a "4-letter" word -- one that you'd rather not hear in your house and try to use as little as possible.  I'm here to tell you, though, that this particular "P" word and several of its friends are not as horrible as you might think, and I'd like to give you some tips and ideas about how to effectively practice.
