Articles

The new home page is in place, the new forum software has been installed and we are ready for some more fun!

If you are brand-new to MQResource: just click on the Forum tab up above and go through the process to register a new account. Be sure to post and say hello in the Introductions Forum -- and then browse through all of our forums that are full of fabulous information, photos and fun. Don't miss the Anything Goes Forum -- that's where most of the action takes place.

If you already have an account: everything should have transferred over to the new site. Your password should still work properly, your avatars, signatures, and posts should all appear as they were before. (The only thing missing is bookmarks, but I'm still working on those). You will want to visit this article for more information about things to check on in the new forum: Update Your Profile.

There are a few other behind-the-scenes things that still need some work. They shouldn't affect the way the forum works, but you will notice that Charter Members still need to have their "hearts" added back in, plus a few other minor details.

Don't be afraid to experiment a bit -- take a look around at the different buttons, visit your Control Panel and click on the My Assistant link. Be willing to play a bit to figure out how things work. There really isn't much you can BREAK -- and if you do get stuck, I'm here to help!

If your password does not work: the first thing to do is go to the Lost Password Form. You'll enter either your user name or your password, plus a security code (from an image on the page). A link will be e-mailed to you with instructions on what to do next.

If that doesn't work, you can send an e-mail to Suzanne (admin @ mqresource.com). Take out the spaces in the e-mail address.

The "P" word

Our world is full of people wanting shortcuts.  We want to have everything and we don't want to wait -- we want what we want and we want it right now.  The situation with the US financial system is certainly indicative of that...but I'm not here to talk about such an unpleasant topic!!

As quilters we are no different -- we want to produce beautiful quilting and we want to do it yesterday.   Now, I'll grant you that there are some prodigies in the machine quilting world, but those prodigies are pretty few and far between.  The rest of us have to work at our craft, and what may look effortless is actually the result of many long years of hard work.

Practice might be spelled with 8 letters, but I'm sure many people consider it a "4-letter" word -- one that you'd rather not hear in your house and try to use as little as possible.  I'm here to tell you, though, that this particular "P" word and several of its friends are not as horrible as you might think, and I'd like to give you some tips and ideas about how to effectively practice.
